Dancers are STORYTELLERS! We hear so much about facial expression, but what exactly does that mean!!?? So dancers, you get your music & the first things you need to do is learn the LYRICS, understand the MOOD, and do a character analysis so you can actually CREATE a character that can CONNECT with you personally. It needs to be a real organic emotion in order for it to translate. You need to connect with your audience & it’s about to get very PERSONAL! You want the audience to enter into an imaginative situation like a story that YOU ARE TELLING! And we all really do enter into stories. There is actually a psychologist study that proves the capacities of our minds allow us to almost completely occupy a fictional position, so that both our thoughts and feelings begin to be shaped more by the fiction than by our real-life situation. We feel that we are there, in the story. It’s really all just a magical little fantasy that only you can create...
